Enthusiasm for Republican Candidates in Bastrop texas
October 11, 2008
Bastrop County Republicans did great at Bastrop Market Days today. We raised some much needed funds and LOTS of McCain-Palin signs were given out. It was amazing to see people swarm to our booth to get signs. Sometimes they were being snatch up as soon as we could put them together.
Many signs for local candidates were distributed as well. Even more bumper stickers and information cards were picked up.
Thanks to everyone who helpd make this event a success and that helped us “get the word out.”
It was an encouraging day. If you watch the Media you would get the impression we don’t stand a chance, but it was really great seeing the support we have in the community, for the Presidential Race and on down the line to our local candidates.
I have heard Sean Hannity from FOX News is having a very special report on Obama on Hannity’s America this next Sunday night (10/12). The information below was emailed to me from a friend.
Please watch if you can:
“Sean Hannity of Hannity & Colmes ~ Fox News, is going to air a very important documentary about Barack Obama, Sunday Night (10/12) at 9:00 PM (6:00 PM PST). He stated on the air this evening that no one in the news media was willing to do this. Hannity is going back to Obama’s earlier days, showing even then his ties to radical professors, friends, spiritual advisers, etc. Hannity stated this evening that he will show in detail Obama’s ties to Reverend Wright for 20+ years (which we all know); how he was participating with this man, and not for the reasons he states! He has uncovered more of Obama’s radical leaders and we will see things that no one in the media is willing to put out there. This will be a night that you will learn more about Obama than ever before. Hannity is very passionate about this program and asked that everyone please watch
~~ Sunday night 9:00 PM (6:00 PM PST).
Thank you again to everyone. We gave out a lot of signs today, so if you can donate to help the party replenish our stock of signs or donate to a candidate to help defray some of their costs I know it would be greatly appreciated!

Republican Woman Nominated for GOP Vice President
August 29, 2008
This is a proud day for Republican Women everywhere and I know that personally I couldn’t be prouder of Sen. John McCain’s Choice for Vice-President.
Governor Sarah Palin is a true Republican Woman and a leading voice for genuine conservative values. A mother of 5 and a professional in her own right, Gov. Palin has made GOP history as the first Woman ever nominated for Vice-President.
Find out more about Governor Sarah Palin.
Below are some of the facts on Gov. Palin that have been forwarded to us from our Parent organization TFRW:
- Governor Sarah Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president.
- She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has seen approval ratings of over 80 percent.
- She has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources.
- She leads a state that matters to every one of us — Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.
- She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. And she put a stop to the bridge to nowhere that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars. In Alaska, she challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill.
- As the head of Alaska’s National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
- Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington.
- In choosing Governor Sarah Palin, John McCain put Washington on notice that he is serious about shaking up the status quo.
- What we’re seeing is a maverick who has shaken up Washington picking as his teammate a maverick governor who has shaken up her own state.
- What it’s going to take to change Washington is a team of Mavericks who have a record of accomplishment in shaking up the status quo.
“Texas Republicans are thrilled with Sen. McCain choice’s of Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. Principled and fearless, Gov. Sarah Palin is an accomplished woman, successful conservative leader and loving mom. Gov. Palin is a servant leader who has the courage and conviction to reform government in Washington, D.C. and make it accountable to the people. With a commitment to finding common sense solutions to America’s challenges, the McCain-Palin team will truly shake-up the status quo, bring discipline back to Washington D.C., and secure a better future for America.”
Obama and Induced Delivery Abortions
August 26, 2008
First, I must warn you what you will see and hear on this video will be difficult to watch. This video describes the practice of Induced Delivery Abortions. It talks about how babies were left to die unattended, just because they were born alive instead of dead as the those that delivered the babies had hoped. This is infanticide.
Why does this matter to our Presidential election? Because Barack Obama voted against a bill that would stop this insane practice when he was in the illinois state senate.

Bastrop County Republicans Participate in Elgin’s Western Days
June 27, 2008
Elgin is holding its annual Western Days event this weekend. On Saturday, June 28, the event will feature a parade down Main Street in Elgin at 10:00 a.m. The Bastrop County Republican Party has entered a float in the parade courtesy of Derek and Donna Van Gilder. Many of our local office holders will be on the float. We will also be honored to have Congressman Michael McCaul there. Terry Pickering, Republican nominee for Bastrop County Sheriff will also have his own float.
I am asking all Bastrop County Republicans to come to the parade and cheer on the Republicans. This is what you can do while at the parade:
1. Come early and get a t-shirt to wear promoting Willie Pina’s campaign, Republican nominee for Bastrop County Commissioner, Precinct 1. Wear it at the parade to promote him.
2. Come early to get campaign literature for Derek Van Gilder, Republican nominee for District Judge, and Terry Pickering, Republican nominee for Bastrop County Sherriff. Hand out the literature to those around you at the parade.
3. Promote any other candidates we have there that day, including Don Loucks for County Commissioner, Precinct 3, Tim Kleinschmidt for State Representative, Congressman Michael McCaul of district 10, and George Morovich, congressional candidate for district 25.
4. Clap, cheer, stomp and yell as our floats go past.
This is a great opportunity to have fun and impress the public with a show of strength. If we look like a winning team and are cheered on like a winning team, those sitting on the fence might hop on the band wagon.
So jump on the band wagon yourself. Come to the parade, and do your part to promote good local government and the candidates that can deliver it. If you sit at home, your silence also speaks.

Walk To Texas Victory
May 15, 2008
What is “Walk to Win”?
“Walk-to-Win” is a statewide, coordinated voter identification effort lead by Texas Victory 2008 – the Get-Out-The-Vote project of the Republican Party of Texas
Go to http://www.texasvictory.org/ for more information.
What will be happening on May 17th?
On “Super Saturday”, May 17th, Republican grassroots activists and volunteers will be knocking on doors in neighborhoods across the state.
The goal of Walk to Win is to knock on 100,000 doors in the month of May.
What will these volunteers be doing/telling people?
The focus of this effort is Voter ID – that is identifying people who voted in the 2004 and 2006 general election and gauging their support for our Republican candidates on the ballot this fall.
By gathering this information now, our Party and our individual candidates will be able to run more effective and efficient GOTV efforts in the fall.
On top of identifying support and being good listeners, volunteers will be available to register new voters as well.
Where will these walks be taking place?
Everywhere. All across the state. We have staging locations for volunteers in all of our larger metropolitan areas, however, if a volunteer calls Victory from a small town and asks how they can help, the volunteer will be provided with a walk list and map so that they can walk their own precinct.
Governor Perry will be kicking off a walk in
What does a volunteer need to do to get involved?
If you’d like to take part, please go to www.texasvictory.org and click on “Walk to Win”. A Victory staff member will contact you directly to either tell you where there is a gathering location for volunteers in your area OR to provide you with the tools you need to walk your own neighborhood.
If anyone has any general questions, please don’t hesitate to email rogerwilliams@texasgop.org or call 512-879-4066.
